Smile, buddy, those glasses just fetched 9 grand!
The legendary JoPa (Joe Paterno, coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team) recently had a pair of his eyeglasses sell for $9,000 at a charity auction. The lucky couple? Kevin and Michelle Coppola. Now they will spend the next 7 months panhandling with the glasses on, to pay it off. Just kidding. Thankfully this was for a charity auction, thus offering some redeeming quality to the amount spent on the glasses. Maybe I should spend the next 25 years wearing the same shirt and it might sell big on e-bay someday. I’m sure my fiancee would love that . . . “honey, I know it stinks now, but someday I may be a manufacturing legend of natural cleaning products and it might be worth millions!!!” And hey I could always use bacteria on it to remove the bad odor! All teasing aside, good for the charity. Good for the Coppola’s, who were Penn State alumni, and can now revel in the glasses that are so thick they could be bulletproof. And good for Joe Paterno who is now officially locked in college football history as the coach with the most expensive eyeglasses!
